Looking forward to part 2 and your book! I wonder if in Part 2 or in the comments you could offer a potent reflective question for connecting with the exiled parts/shadows.
Hey Ryan - Thanks so much! Truly appreciate it. Part 2 is posted now. Because shadow work can be such a vast and unique terrain, I don't have anything to offer currently. But it is good food for thought. There are definitely questions like that in my book though, especially in regards to examining our relationship to power.
Hi, great read. Would like to hear your thoughts on the concept of a “hereditary”shadow stemming from the experiences, traumas, and unresolved issues of our ancestors. Something that could have been imprinted in our DNA and passed down through generations, influencing our psyche on a subconscious level. I wonder if this “hereditary” shadow includes emotional residues and psychological patterns inherited from past generations, potentially including past life influences for some of us who believe in reincarnation.
Jakido, i went for a bowen treatment with a lady who is studying epigenetics. She says that like you say past generation traumas are indeed imprinted unto our dna/genes. I can not remember which word she used. That science is backing this up.
Hey Jakidu - So glad you enjoyed the article and thanks for subscribing! I absolutely think there is something to the notion of a hereditary shadow. Like Helen's comment below, I would look at it more through a prism of epigenetic factors, environmental factors, and psychological factors that all coalesce and are passed down. I do (and have personally witnessed) things akin to family curses as well. I like Daniel Foor's work about Ancestral repair. I also think there is a lot to be said for simply working to heal the unhelpful patterns we inherited through our families of origin.

Epigenetics is fascinating to me Helen! I'd love to hear more about that treatment.
